Following your friends’ progress on the mountain

Our treks are organised and run by Team Kilimanjaro, with whom we have a

close working relationship.

How your friends and family can follow your progress

The friends and families of our trekkers can now follow your progress on the mountain by

visiting the Team Kilimanjaro website. All they need to do is the following:

1) Click on the following link: ‘Track a climber/Kilimanjaro satellite map

2) Read the instructions on this page to identify which of the icons represents

the trekking party you are interested in. Note that all climbs booked with us

have the identifier ‘(HS)’. By clicking on the relevant trek in the column on

the left-hand side, you will not only see where the party were at the last

update, but also get the last SMS message sent from the guide.

Note that bad weather and weak signal can prevent reception on same days. In

this event, our coordinator will indicate that no message has been received, and

will move the group’s icon to the location at which the group is expected to be.

Note, too, that on around one day in every three, poor reception can prevent the

sending of text messages from the mountain. Where this happens, ‘no news’

should be considered to be ‘good news’, as, if a medical emergency arises, we

will be contacted via radio relay from one of the ranger’s huts and will post

information advising friends and family to contact us directly for a more detailed

Report.

As well as following your trek, you can also send messages to you!

Once again, the procedure is relatively straightforward:

1) Click on the following link: ‘Go straight to the Kilimanjaro Blog for climber reports

3) Click on the relevant trek; a new page opens up and you’ll find a space

there where you can leave a reply
